Charles Jacob Hollenback, 48, LaFontaine R. R. 4, a former resident of Roann, died at 9:40 p.m. Sunday in the Wabash County Hospital where he had been a patient since Thursday. Death was attributed to bronchial pneumonia and heart failure.
Mr. Hollenback moved to the LaFontaine community from Roann 14 years ago. He had been employed by the General Tire and Rubber Company in Wabash for ?? years. He served in the Navy during World War II and was a member of the Robert Bowman Post of the American Legion, Roann.
A native of Indiana, he was born Oct. 21, 1910 to Joseph and Jesse [Butterbaugh] Hollenback and was married in June 1936 in New Holland to Reta Louise Lange, who survives.
Also surviving are 10 children, Charles E. Hollenback, Roann; Ruby, Pauline, Mary Ellen, Caroline Jo, Annabelle, Connie Sue, David, Robert and Edwin Hollenback, all at home; five sisters, Mrs. Eugene [Josephine] Devore, California; Mrs. Rudy [Edith] Piccini, New York City; Mrs. Arthur [Pearl] Mundy, Logansport, Mrs. Robert [Betty] Gagnon, Laketon, and Mrs. Lewis [Bonnie] Straton, Silver Lake, and one grandchild. One son is dead.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Grandstaff Funeral Home with the Rev. Wilbert Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in the Chili Cemetery with the American Legion conducting graveside services.
