James Wardlow

Funeral for James W. "Dick" Wardlow, 79, of Decatur will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Brown Service Funeral Home with the Rev. R.A. VanLandingham, the Rev. Burl Oliver Jr. and the Rev. Mark Parris officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home. The family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Wardlow died Monday at Decatur General Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Decatur and a member of Ninth Street United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine M. Wardlow; one son, James W. Wardlow Jr. of Athens; one daughter, Doris W. Haver of Birmingham; five sisters, Sadie Shelton, Mary Lou Stephens and Claudia Fisch of Birmingham, Pearl Oliver and Johnnie Hartselle of Decatur; four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will include Bill Chapman, Tommy Hartselle, Larry Monk, Curtis Claborne, Cecil Monk, Billy Monk, Wendell Holbert, Frank Knoblock and J.L. Hicks.
