Fred was born on August 25, 1920, in rural Clutier, the son of Frank and Emma (Dvorak) Jesina. He received his education in rural schools in the Clutier area. On October 5, 1942, Fred was united in marriage to Stella Popelka in Clutier. They made their home farming northeast of Toledo for many years before moving to Toledo in 1966. They enjoyed traveling and going to dances. Fred was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama, ZCBJ Lodge, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and KD Lodge.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Stella in 2000; son, Darrell Jesina in 1985; brother, Charley Jesina; and sisters, Emma Kaufman, Agnes Rund, and Mary Kaufman.
Survivors include a son William (Sheryl) Jesina of Toledo; two daughters, Betty Jean (Larry Mattingly) Kimberley of Marshalltown and Judy Kay (Gene) Struve of Toledo; eleven grandchildren, Mike (Sandy) Jesina, Monica (Darren) Fogle, Anthony (LeAnn) Jesina, Casey Jesina, Kellie Kimberley, Kendra Kimberley, Keith (Mary) Struve, Gina (Dave) Fisher, Jeff (Maggie) Jesina, Jason (Missy) Jesina, and James Jesina; four step grandchildren, Bernice (Dale) Yuska, Tim (Melinda) Martens, Tom Martens, and Karen (Phil) Duston; fourteen great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Vivian Jesina.
