Age per War of 1812 pension application.
Henry Raynor, reportedly born in New York, served with the New York Volunteers from April 1813 to March 1815. He enlisted at Sackets Harbor and fought in battles there and Lundy's Lane. ON November 19, 1873, living in Boone County, Arkansas, he filed an Application for Pension under "Act of Febuary 14, 1871" in which he stated under oath that his age was 75 years. That places his birthyear at 1798, and he entered the military at age of 14 or 15, depending on the month of his birth.Although he gave a detailed account of his military actions, he could not remember the name of his commanding officer. After a year and a half, his claim was rejected in May 1875 - - but he was dead by that time.
It is not known whether Henry married his wife, Anna (unkown), in New York or Missouri.(It is also possible he could have been married between 1815 and 1825 to a different wife.) The Raynors migrated from Missouri to Madison County, Arkansas, about 1838 and settled near the White River. He is mentioned by Goodspeed, along with John Bivens Sr., as being early settlers in that County.
Henry and Anna were in Madison County in 1840 and on the 1850 census. His occupation was listed as carpenter and millwright. Following Anna's death in 1852, he sold his land near St. Paul to John Bivens, Sr. on Febuary 18,1854. It is believed that Anna is buried under one of the crypts that still remain on the old Bivens' property on Highway 23.
Henry and his second wife, Mrs.Mary Elizabeth FITZGERALD Doss, were in Carroll County in 1860 and in Boone County in 1870.Boone was organized from Carroll County in 1869).He and his sons owned several hunderd acres of land near Harrison. Henry apparently is buried in an unmarked grave, either on his old homeplace, or in the Denning Cemetery where his eldest son, Samuel, and wife,Viania BIVENS Raynor, are buried. Viania's son (Marcus) Lafayette BEVINS (Bivens), is also buried in Denning Cemetery under a Civil War military marker for hie servicein the 11th Missouri Calvary as a bugler.
