Obituary - On Wednesday Morning, January 19, 2011, Our Husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle, Friend returned home to his heavenly father at age 85. Shorty was born on December 11, 1925 in Beaver, Utah to Seldon and Delia Nowers.

He attended grades one through eleven in Beaver. He joined the army at age 17, and served in the south pacific during World War II. He was wounded in Okinawa on May 17, 1945, and received a Purple Heart for his service.

After an honorable discharge from the army he married the love of his life Bonnie Jean Bradshaw of Minersville, Utah. They were married on December 17, 1949 in Beaver at the home of Shorty's parents Seldon and Delia. They were later sealed in the St. George Temple on June 26, 1964.

To this union four children were born, Douglas K., Roger B., Carol Jean and William Michael.

Shorty was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he held the office of High Priest. He and Bonnie served a mission at the Bishop's Store House. He enjoyed serving as a home teacher as well.

Shorty retired from the Beaver County Road department in 1990. He loved farming, raising cows, deer hunting and especially his family.

Shorty is survived by his wife Bonnie Jean Nowers of 61 years, his sons Doug (Lynne) Nowers of Glenwood, UT, Roger (Jill) Nowers of Panguitch, UT, Mike (Elaine) Nowers of Beaver, UT, his daughter Carol Brian of Cedar City, UT, 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, his sisters Eleene Osborne of Cedar City, UT, Helen (Carlyle) Rollins of Vernal, UT and Peggy (Paul) Mecham of Morgan, UT, his brother John R. (Laura) Nowers of Richfield, UT.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Gerald S. Nowers, a sister Margaret Boyle, son-in-law Elbert Brian and brother-in-law Bruce Osborne.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday January 22, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Beaver 3rd Ward Chapel located at 220 North Main Street, Beaver, UT. A viewing will be held Friday January 21, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Saturday one hour prior to service both viewing's at the church.

Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery all under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
