Laramie was my peach-faced lovebird. I met him in a store called Petcetera in Bozeman, Montana when he was around 4 weeks old. They had these birds in a large tub. He walked up my arm. I'd hold him and put him back, but he kept flying up and landing on me. He made it clear that I was not leaving without him.

My sister bought him for me for an early birthday present. I'm not sure why I named him Laramie. It just seemed to fit. He was always very sweet and I was his favorite person. He hated me to leave him and would fly over and land on me if I was trying to leave the room. He refused to play with my other birds. He only wanted me. I taught him to kiss me and he was very affectionate. I taught him to say his name, but it came out "L'mie."

I got him a mate, Zorro, so he wouldn't be lonely while I was at work. They loved each other very much. She passed away several years ago. After she died, his best friend was probably my cockatiel, Gus. They were in next-door cages. Gus is two years older than Laramie.

I found Laramie dead in his cage after I came home from work late Tuesday night, January 18, 2011. He was 16 years old.
