John Joseph Miller, 65, Retired Switchman, Dies
John Joseph Miller, sixty-five years old, a retired switchman, died yesterday in a local hospital. He was an employee of the Burlington railroad forty-one years, being retired in 1931. Mr. Miller was a member of the Wesley Methodist Episcopal Church, King Hill Lodge No. 19, I. O. O. F., Ideal Rebekah Lodge, and the Switchmen's Union of North America.
Born in St. Joseph, Mr. Miller spent his whole life here. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Timmie Miller, at the family home, 2301 South Tenth street; four daughters, Mrs. Luke Hinton of Kansas City and Mrs. Roy Coffey, Mrs. Raymond Roberts and Mrs. Elmer Colestock, all of St. Joseph; a son, Joseph E. Miller, St. Joseph; four brothers, Theodore, Herman and Paul Miller, all of St. Joseph, and George Miller, Norfolk, Nebraska; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at the Heaton-BeGole & Bowman chapel, followed by burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. The body is at the Heaton-BeGole & Bowman mortuary.
