Mrs. Altha E. Best, wife of the late Lewis J. Best, died at her home in North Chicago, Thursday afternoon after a long period of sickness. The family were pioneers in Mitchell county, Kansas. Mr. Best was president of a bank in Beloit, also county treasurer and active in politics in the northwest in his time. Some ten years ago the family moved to Topeka and bought and lived in the house now occupied by Mr. Frasier. A married daughter is the only living member of the family. She will be remembered by the young people of this city of ten years ago as she was active in society. The remains will be brought in the spring to Monrovia, a village west of Atchison, where the parents of both Mr. and Mrs. Best located many years ago.
