Death of An Old Settler
The Pollock Peoples Demands of Dec 6th says: They reported the death and burial of Christian Starks, one of the oldest settlers in Grant parish. His death was caused from injuries sustained in being thrown from his wagon a few days previous to his death. His horse ran away with his wagon and breaking three of the old gentleman's ribs.

His remains were laid to rest Sunday afternoon in the presence of many sorrowing friends and relatives.

The death notices of two prominent citizens of Pollock appear in the Demands of last Saturday, vis: . . . Also Christian Starks, of Lincecum, died on Friday night, Nov 28, 1902, aged about eighty years. He was one of the oldest settlers of the parish, having lived on the place where he died for more than 47 years. His death resulted from injuries received in a runaway, by being thrown from a wagon. He leaves a widow and six children and a large number of friends.
