Obit information for Margaret Jane Barden Ryan: "Death took one of Glenn County's most respected pioneers yesterday when Mrs. J. Ryan, 92, resident of the river country since 1892, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Porter, at Walnut Grove. Word of Mrs. Ryan's death was received in Orland yesterday by Judge James O. Kibby, grandson.

Mrs. Ryan was born in Vermont and was married to Francis Ryan in Wisconsin. They came to California and to Monroeville in 1892 where Mr. Ryan was warehouseman for years. When Hamilton City was founded in 1906, the Ryan's moved to the new city, where Mr. Ryan engaged in business. He died at Hamilton City in 1931.

On April 29th, a family reunion honoring Mrs. Ryan's 92nd birthday, was held at the home of her daughter in Walnut Grove, where Mrs. Ryan had made her home for a number of years. All of her eleven living children and their families were present for this reunion.

Mrs. Ryan is survived by the following children: John Ryan and Frank Ryan, Oakland; Mrs. Margaret Williams and Mrs. Helen Kibby, Hamilton City."
