Funeral Services Held Monday For Mrs. J. O. Nicholas
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, at the First Baptist Church, in Teague, for Mrs. J. 0. Nicholas, 66, who died Sunday night in a Teague hospital following a long illness. Rev. A. P. Hamrick, pastor, and Rev. Watts, Methodist minister, officiated. Burial took place in Dew cemetery.
The late Mr. Nicholas served Freestone County as tax assessor in the late twenties and preceded his wife in death in 1934.
Survivors are three sons, Carl Nicholas, Denison; Ewell Nicholson, Teague; Leslie Nicholas, Galena Park; three daughters, Mrs. Earl Long and Mrs. Garland Owens, Teague, and Mrs. Bessie Hardy, Fort Worth. Fifteen grandchildren survive, including Barbara Dell Nicholas, a student at Southwestern State Teachers College, San Marcos, and Bonnie Nicholas, daughters of Mrs. Maggie Nicholas, Fairfield.
Sisters surviving are Mrs. Gary White, Teague; Mrs. Felix Compton, Mexia; Mrs. Agnes Elmore, Amarillo; Mrs. Sue Glanton, Fort Worth, and one brother, Dial Black, Teague.
Among those attending the funeral services from Fairfield were Mrs. Maggie Nicholas and Bonnie, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Kitchens, Mrs. Carl Heath, Mrs. Lee Eubank, Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Lane, Shelma Carlile, W. H. McSpadden, Henry McCormick and Judge A. H. Benbrook.
