W. D. Black Dies Sunday In Waco Hospital
William Dial Black, 66, of Teague, died in a Waco hospital Sunday following surgery performed Saturday. Funeral services were held from the First Baptist Church in Teague Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock. The Rev. A. P. Hamrick, pastor, officiated, assisted by Rev. W. V. Watts and L. F. Bain, of Teague, and Rev.
Ben Stohler of Fairfield. Interment followed at Greenwood cemetery.
Pallbearers were members of the Board of Deacons of the First Baptist Church of which he was a member.
Mr. Black was born at Dew, Sept. 16, 1884, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. B. B. Black. Here he attended school. He was married to Miss Tula Young in Teague, June 14, 1922. They made their home in Freestone County where Mr. Black was a successful farmer and respected businessman.
Survivors include his wife, a son, William Dial Black, Jr., vice-president of the First National Bank, Houston; and one daughter, Miss Sadie Jo Black, teacher in the Mexia high school; four sisters, Mrs. Gary White, Teague; Mrs. Bruce Compton, Mexia; Mrs. Agnes Elmore, Lubbock; and Mrs. Sue Glanton, Longview; other relatives and a host of friends who mourn his passing.
A large number of out of town relatives and friends attended funeral services, including those from Houston, Mexia and Fairfield.
Ham Funeral Directors were in charge of arrangements.
