The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society. Mr. Elder was born in Custer, Arkansas, and lived in this area from 1942 until moving to Greenfield in 1984.
He worked for General Motors Corporation before he retired.
Survivors include a son, Terry Elder, Kansas City; a brother, Keith Elder, Kansas City; two sisters, Marilyn Steward, Kansas City, and Betty Foster, Mountain Home, Arkansas; and four grandchildren.
