Robert "Bob" Elder, Sr. 67, passed away on February 3, 2016.

A Memorial visitation will be from 6-8pm, Monday, February 8, 2016 at Carson-Speaks Chapel.

Bob was born on August 5, 1948 in Mountain Home Arkansas to Carl and Dorothy (Cockrum) Elder.

Bob was employed for many years at Armco Steel until their closing. For the past 16 years he was employed with O'Riely's.

25 years ago Bob met and married the love of his life, Nina Simmons. They shared many wonderful years, and a very large family. Bob loved trick or treating with the children and then with the grandchildren. He never missed a year. His favorite saying was that he was creating memories.

He succeeded in his mission; the family will have lots of memories, including the father-daughter dance 2 weeks ago, that will keep Bob alive for generations to come. Along with his wife, Bob loved to play Bingo at the American Legion in Blue Springs, fish and hunt. He was known to drop everything when someone needed help. He enjoyed painting, and his work was requested by many. Bob was an all around good man who would "walk softly and carry a big stick".

Survivors include: wife Nina; daughters Lawanda Coffman (Bill), Cindy Longacre (Branden), Cheryl Hess (Matt), Anne Griffitt (Sunny); sons Danny Thomas II, Kevin Stevens, and Robert Elder, Jr. (Anne); 17 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sisters Betty Foster and Marilyn Steward; many nieces and nephews, and a large extended family.

Bob is preceded in death by; his parents; daughter Rona Stevens; brothers Oak Elder, Kenneth Elder, and Joe Elder; and sister Imogene Dow. Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Action in Bob's memory.
