Fannie Stephenson was the third daughter of J. Gaines Biard. She was born in Limestone County, Alabama, but came to Lamar County, Texas, with her parents when about one year old. Her mother was Nancy Claudia (Brackeen) Biard. Her husband, Newton Stephenson, was a brother to her Aunt Minerva's husband.

According to the 1955 DAR Survey, by Sue Wade McDonald, there are six graves in the Stephenson enclosure in the Forest Hill Cemetery. Only shards of broken gravestones remain. In addition to Newton and Fanny Stephenson, the other graves most likely contain their two young sons, Gaines and George Stephenson and their two young daughters, Jessie Stephenson and Stella Stephenson.
