Henry Lee's gravesite is on his plantation near Stark, Butts County, Georgia. The grave was marked in 1995 with a Revolutionary War marker. The site is on Barnett Ridge Road on property owned by Henry Lee and later by the Barnett family and their heirs.

The will of Henry Lee was "signed" with his mark on August 28, 1837, and filed on November 9, 1837. His son Stewart Lee served as the executor of the estate. The estate was advertised for sale in the Macon Georgia Telegraph on November 6, 1837, clearly stating that Henry was deceased. Thus, the date of death shown on the grave marker is incorrect, and he died some time between August 28th and November 6th in 1837.

Henry was born in Hagerstown, Maryland, and it is believed that he was married three times. The name of his first wife is unknown. They had one child, Henry Lee, born 1777.

He married his second wife, Elizabeth Cave, on December 15, 1781, in Upper Marlborough, Prince George's County, Maryland. They had seven children, James Edward, Samuel, Frank, Rebecca, John, Seaborn, and William (Billy). Elizabeth died about 1800, probably in South Carolina.

He married his third wife, Lillis Kennedy (or Canady) about 1801. They had nine children, Andrew, Stewart, Canada Peter, Jane, Sarah, Eliza, Harry, Harvey, and Larkin Davis.

By 1828, Henry and Lillis had established the plantation near Stark. The deed placed the land between the Stark and Ocmulgee Rivers. In 1823 Henry opened a school in Stark and later the Macedonia Baptist Church met in the school house. The first church was built on land given by Henry and he was the first to join the church by baptism according to the church history.
