IPSWICH TRIBUNE Wednesday, 8 June 2011

WALTER ARNOLD JOB, 79, of the Sandridge Community, Ridgeville, S.C., and formally of Ipswich, died January 12, 2011 at a North Charleston hospital.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday June 10, 2011 at Gramm funeral Home on U.S. Highway 12 in Ipswich. Interment will follow at Ipswich City Cemetery.

Arnold was born May 14, 1931 in Ipswich, a son of the late Gustave Job and Christina (Gugel) Job. In 1952 he enlisted in the US Navy and served as a chief until he retired in 1972. In 1958, he married his first wife Kathleen (Kay) Quinn in Portsmouth, N.H. In 1972 he moved his family to the family farm until 1976, when he took a job at the shipyard in Mississippi. In 1979 he enlisted in the US Merchant Marines. In 1983 he and Kay moved to Ridgeville, S.C. He retired from the US Merchants Marines in 1993.

He and Kay lived in Ridgeville until her passing in 2002. He then married his second wife, Joy McGuinness in Norfolk, Va. in 2005. He remained living in Ridgeville until his death.

He was a life member of the FRA; a member of the VFW Fleet Reserve; a member of the Elks Club, Ocean Springs, Ms; a life member of the American Legion, Ipswich; a member of the US Subvets, Inc., Charleston Base and occasionally attended St. Michaels Lutheran Church, Moncks Corner, S.C.

Arnold was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathleen (Kay) Alyce (Quinn) Job in 2002; his daughter, Margaret (Job) and son-in-law David Bell; brothers, Albert and Elmer Keisz, Ronnie and Raymond Job; and sister Virginia (Job) Peterson.

He is survived by his estranged wife, Joy McGuinness Job of Norfolk, Va; son, Walter A "Ship" (Carla) Job, Jr.; step-sons, Joe (Shelly) Reece of Ky., Steve Reece of Ga; brothers Edwin (Judy) Job of Aberdeen, Clarence (Barbara) Job of Bend, Ore.; sisters, Anne Heitz of Ipswich, Joan Smith of Springfield, Ore., Lila Rose of Deaver, Wyo., Janice (Harland) Hammrich of Belfair Wash., and Elaine (Joe W.) Hornaman of Emery; sister-in-law Audrey Keisz, Phyllis (Job) and LaVonne Job; a number of nieces and nephews; and step-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 409 King St. Suite 300 Charleston, S.C. or St. Michaels Lutheran Church, 321 W. Main St., Moncks Corner, S.C. 29461.
