James Barney Dant, was born in McLean County, he was a farmer and a member of St Alphonsus Catholic Church and Holy Name Society. He lived his entire life at Elba, KY.

During WWII Barney Dant moved his family to Daviess Co., he purchased a home on Alexander Av. in Owensboro, KY. His son Fines Dant was serving in the Army, his daughter & son-in-law, Theresa & Elmo Thompson lived on the farm at Elba, during the duration of the war. Within a year after the war ended Barney sold the home in Owensboro, he and his family moved back home to the farm at Elba.
