Beckius Rites Held Thursday
Bellwood, March 10, (Special) -- Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Luxenburg church for Nicolas Beckius who died Tuesday morning. He had been a patient at St. Mary's hospital in Columbus for about three months before his death.
Pallbearers were nephews of the deceeased: Pete Schmit, and Nicolas Schmit of Rising City NE, and George Vandevegt of Cedar Rapids, Nick Meysenburg of David City, Glenn Wiebold of Schuyler and Loran Beckius of Bellwood.
Mr Beckius, son of Nicolas and Catherine Haubris Beckius, was born April 15, 1869 at Mineral Point, Wisconsin. At the age of eight he came with his parents to Colfax county where ty resided for three year. The next year they moved to Butler County where he resided until his death.
On January 7, 1908 he was united in marriage to Miss Mae Duff of David City.
Besides his widow he leaves two sons; John Cornelius Beckius and Leonard Matthew Beckius. He is also survived by one brother, Neal of Schuyler, and four sisters, Mrs. Mike Meysenburg of David City, Mrs. Neal Vandegegt and Mrs Hubert Vandevegt of Cedar Rapids, and Miss Ruth Beckius of Schuyler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, John, Peter, Matthew and George, and four sisters, Mrs Corneliuis Schmit, Mrs. Nick Demuth, Bena and Margaret Beckius.
