The story is told that Clarence, Nora and his children were going to travel back to NC on the train. Clarence forgot something and went back home, having Nora and the children go on ahead. He returned to the train station the next day and for some unknown reason stepped onto the tracks, in front of a oncoming train and was killed. Besides his widow, he left 3 children: Bonnie, Hazel P. and Cecil Eugene.

C. E. Harmon of Cle Elum, was killed Friday night or early Saturday morning, near Dudley. The body was brought to this city and buried from Rose & Inman's undertaking parlors Monday afternoon, Rev. Crim officiating. He left a wife and three children.
