QUITMAN —
Services for Opal Lucas Castle will be held Thursday, at 10 a.m., at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with Ron Stanley and Chuck Engelbrecht officiating. Burial will be in Old Pleasant Hill Cemetery in the Elwood Community with Wright's Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Castle, 89, died on Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, at her residence in Quitman. She was a member of First Methodist Church of Quitman. She loved quilting, knitting and will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her son, John Lucas Jr. and wife, Martha of Linden, Ala.; her daughter, Edith Smith and husband, James of Quitman; her brother, Marcus Mason and wife, Maurine of Baytown, Texas; sister, Mildred Price of Baytown, Texas; five grandchildren: Carl Smith, Edie Harper, Melanie Hamrick, Jon Jon Lucas and John Pat Lucas; eight great-grandchildren: Jaymie Smith, Kaytelyn Smith, Hayleigh Harper, Adam Harper, Holt Hamrick, Lorin Hamrick, Michael Hamrick and Brianna Lucas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Waldo and Virgie Mason; and, her husbands: John Lucas and O. B. Castle.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.
Visitation will be Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. until time for service, at Wright's Funeral Home.
