Mrs. Josephine M. Hamlin died at her home, 152 Columbia street, yesterday afternoon at 4:45 o'clock. A general breaking down was the cause of her death.

Mrs. Hamlin was born at Mohawk Hill, Lewis County, June 4, 1835, the daughter of Alois Linck and Margaret Bailey. both of whom came from France. She came to Utica 54 years ago and three years after married Joseph [Jacob] S. Hamlin of this city. Her husband died March 17, 1887.

Practically all her life she lived at 152 Columbia street. Consequently she was well known In West Utica as well as in other parts of the city and was highly respected. She was a member of the Alter Society, the St. Elisabeth's Society and the Third Order of St. Joseph's Church.

There were 11 children, six of whom are living. They are Mrs. John Heintz, 164 Columbia street; Mrs. Daniel Heintz of McVean street; James J. Hamlin, Warren street; William H. Hamlin, South street; Joseph A. Hamlin and Alexander It. Hamlin both of 152 Columbia street. She leaves 18 grandchildren. There are also two brothers, John Linck of Burnside. Mich. and Joseph Linck of Detroit, Mich. and two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Hamlin, North Branch Mich. and Mrs. Mary Boyle of the same place.
