Linck---- Another probable French family coming early to Burnside was that of Alois Linck. His parental family likely came first to Constableville, Lewis Co. NY. The census record for 1870 reported Alois was born in France, but the 1880 census said Prussia; France is more likely. Alois was born November 1, 1796, possibly Alsace-Loraine. When Alois was 14 he enlisted in Napoleon's army. It was an eventful trip to Moscow where he was a prisoner and finally escaping. He married Margaret Bailey (born in France June 9, 1806, and died May 19, 1885). Several male Lincks came to Burnside in 1856, then a year or so later their families came alone from NY state.
