John Henry, a native of Thomas, New Mexico and resident of Albuquerque, was predeceased by parents Ivan and Emma Bartlett; wife Lois Marie; daughter Brenda; and sister Dorothy.

John was survived by his children, Diane Buchanan of Albuquerque and Linda Chavez of Phoenix, Arizona and Las Vegas, Nevada; seven grandchildren; six grandchildren-in-law; and eight great-grandchildren as follows: Charles Chavez (wife Leisa), son David and daughter Lauren, Eric Chavez, Rebecca Tanner; Lorrinda (husband Terry Johnson) and two daughters Cheva and Channel, Alicia (husband Ethan Tanner) and sons, Rustin and Terryn, Amanda (husband Darva' Fields) and son Josia, and Ashley (husband Chris Creighton) and son Christian; sister Beatrice Bartlett, age 94, living with Jerrie and John Fitzpatrick of Albuquerque.

John grew up in Clayton, New Mexico and graduated from Clayton High School. He joined the Army Air Force in September of 1942 during WWII and was honorably discharged in November 1945. John graduated from Southern Methodist University in June, 1951 with a degree in Business. While going to school at SMU, he met Lois Marie Hedrick and they fell in love and married in September of 1951 in Joplin, Missouri. John and Lois had their first child, Diane in January of 1954 in Hollywood, California. They moved to Albuquerque in March of 1956 and had their second child Linda. In February of 1958, they had their third child, Brenda. John owned three different computer businesses in Albuquerque. He retired when his wife Lois got ill and stayed with her until her passing in January of 1990. John stayed busy with politics and horse racing while retired. The family lost Brenda in August of 1993.
