Floyd Bailey was born in Gravelly, Arkansas in 1914. He attended college at New Mexico State University where he lettered in Track and Field in 1936. He married Mary Ellen Chamberlin and they moved to her family farm in Estancia, New Mexico. Floyd taught and coached at Estancia High School for some time. He was a father of four children, Janet Bailey Yarbrough, Marjorie Bailey Hepple, Susan Bailey Raby and David Bailey. Floyd opened the first Farm Bureau Insurance Agency's in New Mexico. They moved from the farm in Estancia to Albuquerque in the 50's when drought forced many farmers to give up on their crops. Floyd died of a heart attack in 1970.
