1943 Carnegie-Illinois Steel Corp. of U.S. Steel, South Works, Chicago - Men Tapping an Electric Furnace. In 1943, Stewart was Supt. over the plant. U.S. Steel was in its heyday back during that period, the company employed 340,000 workers at that time. Today, the majority of the plants are no longer in existence.

S.S. Leviathan' transport- HHS sailed on ship arriving at Brest, France on May 30, 1918 (He is in this photo somewhere). Leviathan was built in 1913 as SS Vaterland, Germany's largest passenger liner. It was lying in a US port in 1917 & seized by US upon their entry into WWI. Armor clad - Made 10 trips to Europe & 9 back during the war. (Built by Blohm & Voss Hamburg, 1913 as VATERLAND. 54,282 GRT, 948 x 100 ft, Quadruple screw-24 knots-turbines). Researched by daughter, Laura J. Stewart.
