-- CHESTER -- Graveside services for Mr. Samuel Henry "Butler" Austin of 548 Third St. will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 10, in Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. Curtis Marshall officiating.

Mr. Austin, 82, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at his residence.

A native of Chester, he was a son of the late Samuel Coleman and Lizzie Cameron Austin. A member of Orrs Baptist Church, Mr. Austin was retired from Springs Industries and was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include three sons, James, Gene and Sam Austin, all of Chester; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Jesse J. Austin of Chester; and a sister, Marie Hayes of Winston-Salem, N.C.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie St., Chester.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society Relay For Life, c/o Maxine Estes, 3200 Sandy River Road, Chester.

Barron Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
