She was born May 28, 1923 in Wellington to William Alonzo and Lovina May Green Engle.
Married John Bernard Kelley November 25, 1950 in Price. He died Aug 7, 1999.
Member of Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Graduated from Carbon High School class of 1941, then attended Holy Cross Nursing School graduating in 1945 with her RN degree. Betty served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1945-1946 as a second Lt. Army Nurse. She worked for the Bushnell Hospital during and after the war, and Milwaukee Children's Hospital in 1950 as Head of Surgery.
She enjoyed sewing, gardening, painting and was an avid bird watcher. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her children, Kathleen Peggy (Johnny) D'Ambrosio, Michael Patrick Kelley, Daniel Jerde (Verlyn) Kelley, Shannon Elizabeth (Scott) Dimick, all of Price; William Robert (Alicia) Kelley, Bullfrog; adopted daughter, Suzanne (Dave) Cartwright, Price; 18 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren; her special companion Dodge and her birds.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Lovina Engle, husband John B. Kelley, son John Thomas Kelley, brothers Bob (killed in World War II), Bill and Pat Engle, grandson Paul, great grandson Alex. Funeral Mass Friday, Oct. 2, 2009 at 11 a.m., Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Vigil service Thursday evening 7 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home, Price. Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home, Thursday and Friday one hour prior to service. Committal service Price City Cemetery, Price.
