Son of Thomas Hobart and Naomi "Omi" Elledge Deal, he was the widower of Eva Jean Bard Deal. Additionally, he was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor Brooks Severt. He was survived by one son, Thomas E. Deal (Ann); one sister, Sybil Billings; two grandchildren, Charles Thomas "Chas" Deal and Christopher Scott Deal. He was a veteran of WWII (United States Navy). Before retiring, he worked for Merita Bread Company for 31 years. He was a member of Hinshaw Street Baptist Church where his funeral was held on Janaury 10, 2011 with The Rev. Jim Gore officiating.
