US NAVY - VIETNAM
NEWPORT – Mahlon A. Brewer, 57, died unexpectedly July 7, 2008 at his Camp Benson Road residence. He was born March 9, 1951 at Dexter , a son of Fred and Mary (Tardy) Brewer. He graduated with the Class of 1969, the first class graduating from the new Nokomis Regional High. Mahlon served in the U. S. Navy, and later worked at area woodworking mills, most recently Banton Brothers and also under the new owner, Vick Firth. He also worked at Sebasticook Valley Health Care Facility in Pittsfield as a Certified Nurses Aide. He was a member and past post commander of both the Conner-Trafton Post 119 American Legion in Guilford, and Barrows-Skidgel Post 105 American Legion in Newport. He was also a member of the 40 & 8, Voiture 454. He and his wife attended Deeper Life Assembly in Pittsfield. He also enjoyed golfing when his health permitted it.

Mahlon is survived by his wife of 22 years, Nancy (Knowlton) Brewer of Newport; a son and his wife, Philip and Mary Brewer of Corinna; a daughter and husband Dorothy and Jeremy Eldridge of Troy; a brother and wife Guy and Debbie Brewer of Corinna; 3 grandchildren, Jeremiah, Hope and Samuel; aunts and uncles Rena Tardy, Al and Sylvia Tardy, and Maude Smith;several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside committal services with U. S. Navy honors will be held at the Brewer family lot, Riverside Cemetery, Newport. (Crosby & Neal on-line)
