NEWPORT and CORINNA - Fred O. Brewer, 89, died Aug. 21, 2005, at a Dexter healthcare facility. He was born April 5, 1916, at Palmyra, a son of Allen and Lottie (Bates) Brewer. He attended the Palmyra schools. Fred served with honor in the U.S. Army in France during World War II, and was a life member of the American Legion Post No. 105 of Newport. He was active in his local church and played the organ and piano for many services. He loved music, playing his electric organ and piano at home, and his flower gardens. Fred retired after many years of working for the State of Maine Liquor Commission. He was employed part time after retirement for Bud's Shop & Save in Newport.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary (Tardy) Brewer of Corinna; two sons, Norbert Guy and wife, Debra Brewer, of Corinna, and Mahlon A. and wife, Nancy Brewer, of Newport; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at the family lot, Riverside Cemetery, Newport. (Bangor DAily News 8/23/2005)
