William Anthony funeral services held at Pine Grove
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 25, at Pine Grove Baptist Church for William T. Anthony, 75, who died Sunday morning at Forrest General Hospital, after a two weeks illness.
Services were conducted by Rev. W. E. Steele, church pastor, assisted by Rev. B. L. Smith of Laurel. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Wilmer Haden, Eldon Morrow, Bill Morrow, Ralph Dyar, J. E. Walters, and James Cook.
Mr. Anthony was born in Skinnerton, Ala. July 21, 1887, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Anthony. He came to Mississippi when a young man. He was a resident of Pine Grove Community and Lamar County for many years. He was a veteran of World War I, a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, and an active church worker.
Survivors are his wife, the former Bessie Netherland; four sons, Leroy of Hattiesburg, W. T., Jr. who is with the Navy at Norfolk, Va., David of Tupelo, James, who is stationed with the Army in Frankfurt, Germany; two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Rihner, of Meteria, La, and Miss Doris Anthony of Hattiesburg; nine grandchildren; two brothers, David L. Anthony of Peoria, Ill and John Anthony of Mobile, Ala.; and a number of nephews and nieces.
