William A. Truitt, 74 years old, died at 3:30 am at St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, Illinois, September 9, 1935. William was born June 24, 1861, Chillicothe, Illinois, the son of William S. and Mahala Jane (Burt)Truitt. With the exception of 15 years residence in Galesburg, Illinois, his entire life was spent in Peoria County where he resided for the last 28 years. Mr. Truitt was a boiler maker and last employed by the Rock Island Railroad Roundhouse. He married Emily Jane (Ridenour) Hartzell in Galesburg, Illilnois in 1880. Surviving are his widow, 3 Daughters: Mrs. H.A. Leighton of Galesburg, Illinois, Mrs. George Poff and Mrs. Edna Gebhart of Peoria, and one Son, William Truitt, of Peoria, Illinois. He is also survived by one brother, John A. and Olive Jane (Waller) Truitt, of Chillicothe, one half-sister, Mrs. Stella Knickerbocker, Peoria, and his step-mother, Mrs. Margaret Truitt, Chillicothe. Funeral services Wilton Mortuary Chapel. The Reverend E.T. Munns to officiate. Burial Chillicothe City Cemetery, September 11, 1935.

William Albert Truitt was born January 18, 1903 in Galesburg, Illinois. He was adopted as a baby by the Truitts and lived on a house boat with his foster parents on the Illinois River.
