Merrick was born c. 1843 in Carl County, Indiana and was a veteran of the Civil War, having served in Co. F of the 47th Regiment of Illinois Volunteer Infantry. He joined the 47th on August 21, 1861, was mustered into the service on October 1, 1861 at Benton Barracks, Missouri and was discharged for disability on July 10, 1862. Alonzo W. Merrick had been previously married to __________ __________. Alonzo died on __________ __, 1894. His moral remains were laid in the _______________ Cemetery in __________, __________.

Lucy was married 3rd to John Gray sometime after the 1900 census. John Gray was born in 1831 and was also a veteran of the Civil War, having served in Co. A of the 30th Ill Inf. John Gray died on _____________ __, 1907 and his mortal remains were laid in Section F of the Chillicothe City Cemetery in Chillicothe, Peoria County, Illinois.
