THE PARIS NEWS, Friday, April 11, 2003..

Florence Daughtrey, 95, of Powderly, died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at Christus St. Joseph's Hospital South.

Funeral services are set for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 12, in the chapel of Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Red Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, April 11, at the funeral home.

She was born March 6, 1908, in the Bounds Community of Lamar County to J.W. Daughtrey and Alice Westbrooks Daughtrey. She farmed and ranched near Powderly for many years. She was a member of the Women's Home Demonstration Club and Bounds Baptist Church and its Fellowship Sunday School class.

She was preceded in death by six brothers, Clay, Bob, Hubert, Johnny, Jake and W.R. Daughtrey; and three sisters, Dona Dickson, Dovie Turner and Ollie Mae McDonald.

Survivors include a sister, Fannie Daughtrey of Powderly; and many nieces and nephews, including her caregiver, Billie Kemper and her husband, David, of Powderly.

Asked to serve as pallbearers are Karl Kemper, James Lynch, Roger Scaff, Darrell Daughtrey, Jack Fleming, Joe Vaughan and Bobby Vaughan.
