Gary Bartholomew passed away at his home in Santa Maria, California on December 31, 2010.
Gary was born in Taft California to Dick and Vera Bartholomew on January 13, 1948. The family moved to New Cuyama, California in 1952 where he was raised and attended school. Gary graduated from Cuyama Valley High School with the class of 1966. While attending school, Gary was active with the Future Farmers of America and played football and basketball.
After high school, Gary joined the United States Navy serving 4 years aboard the aircraft carriers USS Yorktown and USS Forrestal.
Gary moved to Santa Maria, California where he worked in several industries before settling at Kendall Jackson's Cambria Winery. He worked in the winery for 19 years before retiring in June of 2010.
Gary is survived by his mother, is daughters, his three grandchildren, his sister and her husband , three nephews and 11 great-nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father Dick Bartholomew, his brother Robert Bartholomew and his grandparents Harry and Jesslyn Bartholomew.
The family invites friends and family to join them for graveside services at Westside District Cemetery in Taft, California on January 13, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a time of food and remembrance at OT Cookhouse in Taft.
