Earl R. Evans
Retired Police Officer
Earl R. Evans, a 23 year resident of Poway, died from heart disease and pneumonia April 25, 2001 at Pomerado Hospital. Mr Evans was 80.
He was born Jan 11,1921 in Berkeley. Mr Evans served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946. Prior to entering the military, Mr Evans was employed by Douglas Aircraft Co. as an experimental aircraft electrician. He retired in 1977 after 27 years as a police officer in Huntington Park.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge #1415 in Huntington Park for 48 years and was also a member of the American Association of Retired Persons. Mr Evans enjoyed woodworking and home remodeling.
Survivors include his wife Luella "Joan" Evans; daughter Susan Kay Young of Amarillo, Texas; sister Fern Adelice Milstead of Brawley; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
A interment was at Fort Rosecrans National Veterans Cemetery in San Diego. The family suggests memorials to Mended Hearts Chapter 62 c/o American Heart Association, 3640 5th Avenue, San Diego, Calif 92103.
