Born in Sweden, Adolf emmigrated to the US in 1881, as a young single man of 19 years, following his brother Andrew Anderson who had come a year prior. Adolf first lived in Parke Co., Indiana, but in 1886, settled in Blue Island, IL. He married Hilma Fredrickson on 25 December 1889. They had no children together, but adopted a niece, Hattie Olivia Johnson, who's mother died after Hattie's birth. Adolf worked most of his life in the brickyards of Blue Island until he was siezed by a stroke and died at his job at the age of 66. In 1901 he was elected the first Alderman for the 5th ward of Blue Island. He was also a founding member of the Siloa Swedish Lutheran Church of Blue Island, IL.
