Although there is little documentation, most genealogists assume that Hannah was the daughter of Joseph Foster (1730-1794) and his wife Elizabeth (possibly Perry) of Sandwich. She married first, Nathan Bourne in 1776 in Sandwich. They had a daughter, Lucy Bourne b. 1777. She married secondly Silvanus Gibbs, Sr. on the 12th of Dec., 1782. They lived in present day Bournedale at the house that once stood between the mill race and the herring run at the northwest corner of Bournedale Rd. and Old Herring Pond Rd. There they raised a large family of 14 kids. Silvanus was a mariner, owned numerous ships based in Wareham and was an early trader in the New England, Cuba and Puerto Rico sugar and rum trade.
