Alvina (Deckert) Ibsen, of Fargo, died Friday, December 31, 2010 at Sanford Health, with family at her side.

Alvina Deckert was born December 8, 1920 on the family farm near Henning, MN. She was one of eleven children, eight girls and three boys. Alvina grew up on the farm and attended school through 8th grade. She later earned her G.E.D. and also attended Business College.

Alvina served in WWII as a W.A.C. (Women's Army Corp). She was also a Rosy the Riveter in St. Paul, MN. In 1950, Alvina moved to Los Angeles where she worked for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. She met and fell in love with Lloyd Ibsen. They married on July 11, 1953. They moved to Goleta, CA and raised their family.

Alvina worked for Santa Barbara County Adoption Agency for seventeen years and upon retirement, she and Lloyd traveled extensively. Lloyd died in 1997 and Alvina moved to Fargo in 2009, residing at Riverview Place. She was a loving and nurturing mother who will be dearly missed. She was wise, a good cook and had a remedy for every ailment. Alvina loved sewing, quilting, gardening, spending time with family especially her grandchildren. She was so looking forward to the birth of her first great-grandchild.

Alvina was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Lloyd; son, Ronald; her parents and eight siblings.

Alvina is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Mark) Sheridan; six grandchildren, Katie Sheridan, Melissa (Anson) Sutherland, Matthew Sheridan, Daniel Sheridan, Becky Ibsen and Allison Ibsen; two brothers, Carl (Agnes) Deckert and Harold (Dolly) Deckert and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral: Tuesday, January 4, 2011, 1:00 PM at Riverview Place, Fargo, ND.

Visitation: One hour prior to services at Riverview Place.

Burial: Santa Barbara Cemetery, Santa Barbara, CA.
