Born Nov 13, 1926 in Salt Lake City to Melville Louis and Amy Colmer Adam. Married Billie Dawn Painter; later divorced.
Married Iona Livermore July 8, 1960. Mel graduated from South High School in 1944. Served with the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II.
For 44 years, Mel was employed by Union Pacific Railroad, where he was affectionately known as "Little Boo," following in his father's footsteps. He was an active member of the LDS Church. First and foremost, Mel loved his beloved wife, Iona, and his children and grandchildren. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed tennis, bowling, golf, and fishing. He loved the outdoors, especially his home in the High Uintahs where he enjoyed spending time with his many animal friends.
Survived by his wife, Iona; children, Mary McMahan, Patricia (David) Hatch, Frederick John (Christine) Adam, Gary Lyn (Suanna) Adam, Donald Paul (Joy) Adam, Dawnell Pace, Stephen Lee (Sherie) Adam, James Melville (Nanette) Adam; 30 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Helen (Grant) Furner; many extended family members. Preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be Tues. 11 a.m. at Mount Olympus LDS 12th Ward chapel, 4176 Adonis Dr. (4176 S. and Gary Rd (3930 E)). Friends may call Mon. 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Rd, and Tues. at the church, 10-10:45 a.m. Interment: Elysian Burial Gardens.
