Mr. Gilbert T. Melton was born on January 24, 1898, in Clay County to the late Jonathan Pickett (Daunt) and Mary Elizabeth (Bettie) Rabon Melton.

His family includes Dallas Melton of Algood, Inez Bilbrey and Bernice Martin, both of Allons, and Jean Alyne Collins of Tompkinsville, KY.

He was also preceded in death by two daughters, Norma Gean and infant daughter, Reba Mae Melton. Mr. Melton has three sons that are deceased; Fred, Champ and infant son, Herbert Melton.

Gilbert Melton was a farmer in East Clay county. He loved the land upon which he worked and raised his family.
