Mary Ann Bridges (Brydges) was born in Bury Street, Edmonds, Suffolk, England. She was the daughter of Benjamin Bridge and Pleasance Bridge. She married Henry Donville Fairchild in 1825 at St. James Church, Clerkenwell, London. She and Henry were active members of the Wesleyan Methodist Church, where Henry was a city missionary for 23 years. Mary Ann was the mother of 12 children.
