Cecil E. Whitmire, age 76, of Wauseon, passed away Saturday morning, December 4, 2010 at the Fulton County Health Center. He was born in Liberty Center, OH on February 22, 1934 one of three sons to the late Leroy Whitmire and Leta (Gaudern) Whitmire. Cecil was a 1952 graduate of Liberty Center High School and an U.S Army Veteran. He was married to Florence (Fackler) Whitmire for 41 years until her passing on August 8, 1997. Cecil worked for over 40 years for Fulton Industries where he was a purchasing agent. His hobbies included cooking and gardening, but nothing took the place of playing cards, especially euchre; of which he attended many tournaments and played with friends and family. Cecil was a member of the Wauseon American Legion, Wauseon VFW and the Delta Eagles. In addition to his parents, Cecil was preceded in death by his great great granddaughter, Rachelle. He is survived by his loving friend, Pam Nabozny; children, Debra (Douglas) Carr, Darl (Pat) Whitmire, Doran (Vicky) Whitmire and Diane (Lee) Bruner; brothers, Rolin (Carol) Whitmire of Iowa and Duane (Diane) Whitmire of Bowling Green, OH; eleven grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St. Hwy. 109, Delta; where a funeral service for Cecil will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday. Pastor Chuck Whitmire will be officiating. Interment will follow at Winameg Cemetery near Delta.
