Violet Shadel Serns, 98, died April 13, 1996, at Skaalen Home, Stoughton.

She was born March 1, 1898, in Milton, the daughter of Frank and Ida Packel Shadel. She graduated from Milton Junction High School in 1916 and attended the SDA College, Berrien Springs, Mich. She then was employed by the Farmer's Bank in Milton Junction. She married Allen Serns and they farmed on several farms on Serns Road until retiring and moving to Parkview Drive in Milton. She was a sewing leader with the Milton 4-H Club for many years.

Survivors include one son, Robert (Pearl) Serns; two daughters, Peggy (Orville) Olson and Jinny (Dr. Roy) Olson; five grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty (Charles Jr.) Fleming; a brother, Willard "Bill" (Julie) Shadel; a sister-in-law, Ethlyn Shadel; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen; a sister, Olive (Lee) Foote and a brother, Stuart Shadel.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, April 19, 1996, at the Albrecht Funeral Home. Pastor David Rasmussen will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Milton Junction Cemetery.
