Wallace Henry Grandy, 78,
Smithfield, Ut., died Saturday, Nov 4,
at the Logan Regional Hospital.
He was born April 3,1911, in Paris the
son of Emil and Emma Rosa Stocker
Grandy.
He married Rhea Hart Dec 23,1938,
in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He graduated from Fielding High
School at Paris in 1931, from Ricks College
where he was valedictorian in 1933
and from USAC in 1935. He earned a
master's degree in education at USU in
1§55. He also attended the BYU summer
school sessions for many years.
He loved teaching-and taught for 38
years in both the public schools and as a
seminary teacher for the LDS Department
of Education in Utah, Idaho and Wyoming.
He was an active member of the LDS
Church and served in many capacities
throughout his life, including an LDS
mission to the Southern states from 1935
to 1937, as a bishop's counselor and
twice as a ward clerk. He was also interested
and active in temple work and
genealogical research. He was a
devoted husband and father.
He is survived by his wife of
Smithfield; two sons, Boyd Grandy
Santa Monica, Ga.; Melvin Grandy;
daughters and sons-in-law
Alma Burton, Afton, Wy.; Loran and
Marcile Hirschi, Logan; Daryl and
Geyla Reese, Hyde Park; John and
Teresa Jolley, Milwaukie, Or.; 17
grandchildren and one great grandchild;
four brothers, Weldon, DeWitt,
and Drue Grandy, all of Paris, Grant
Grandy, Montpelier, one sister, Ruth
Wilks, Ogden.
Funeral services were held Tuesday,
Nov 7. in the Smithfield Second Ward.
