Mr. Williams was born Jan. 25, 1938. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2007, in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ed Beddingfield officiating.
Burial will follow the service in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight, Aug. 28, 2007, at Sullivan's Highland Funeral Service in Fayetteville.
Mr. Williams was a beloved husband and father and a loving grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Simmons Williams; three sons, Jerry Glenn James Jr., John Thomas Williams and wife Caroline, and Joseph Patrick Williams and wife Robin Rose; a daughter, Jennifer Williams Taylor and husband Mark; six grandsons, Jeffrey Robert James, Thomas Ian Williams, Michael Ryan Williams, Christopher Joseph Williams, Joshua Robert Sinacori and Connor Phillip Taylor; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Simmons Bigford and Mattie Simmons Fields; a brother-in-law, Charles W. Fields; two former daughters-in-law, Barbara Peterson James and Deborah Hooks Williams; three nephews; four great-nephews; and a great-niece.
