Josephine (Stateler) Brown, 73, of 2301 Garrison Ave., Evansville, died at 5:05 A.M. Wednesday July 19, 1995, at Deaconess Hospital. She worked at Motel 6, where she was the night auditor, and had formerly worked at Chateau Motel. Surviving are two daughters, Judith Newman and Kande Burkett, both of Evansville; two sons, Carroll Brown of Newburgh and Robert Stateler of Rockport; a half sister, Vernell Wood of Newark, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; five great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Her husband, John E., died in 1962. Services were held Friday at Browning Funeral Home with Roy Givens officiating and burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.
