Robert Jay Stateler, 71, died Wednesday, August 8, 2001 at his home of complications of diabetes. He had been a welder at Barmet and a logger at Stateler Sawmill. He was an Air Force veteran and life member of the American Legion Post 254. He was a member of the Allied Motors Aluminum Workers Local 55. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Margaret; a sister, Vernell Wood of Newark, New Jersey; and nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 10 A.M. Saturday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home, with burial in Sunset Cemetery in Rockport.
