Athalinda was the daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Harbaugh Working and had an older sister, Ann Elizabeth. Her father died when she was two years old. Athalinda and George Harbaugh were married on 8 March 1859 in St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gettysburg., and they had James Calvin (1859-1897), Elizabeth May "Lizzie" (Hadley)(1862-1935), George Elias (1866-1888), and Rosa (1872-1948)(Lane). Their last three children were born in Bellefontaine, Logan County, Ohio. Athalinda died from apoplexy at the age of 82 years 7 months and 7 days.
